The Path of Liberation constitutes the core of Mingyur Rinpocheโ€™s Vajrayana teachings, the essence of which is the recognition of nature of mind. During this retreat, Rinpoche will introduce the first and second pointing out instructions as well as instructions on the Nectar of the Path and traditional Ngรถndro practices. Rinpoche will also bestow the White Tara empowerment. An embodiment of enlightened activity, White Tara serves as the principal deity of the Tergar lineage.

This very special event will be held across five days at The Great Stupa of Universal Compassion in Bendigo, Victoria and offers a once in a lifetime chance to receive these precious teachings in a very blessed environment inside the largest stupa in the western world.

Important: This event has prerequisites, please read the below carefully before registering:

Requirements for participation:

  • Option 1: To have attended all three Joy of Living levels โ€” Calming the Mind (Level 1), Opening the Heart (Level 2), and Awakening Wisdom (Level 3) โ€” and completed the associated practice requirements

  • Option 2: To have completed the full preliminary practices (the 4 x 100,000 Ngรถndro)

  • Option 3: To have had a daily meditation practice for at least five years and attended either group or solitary practice retreats for a total of at least thirty days, with 6+ hours of formal meditation practice per day, under the guidance of a Buddhist teacher

Why should I attend?
This program represents the core of Mingyur Rinpocheโ€™s Path of Liberation Training, providing instructions on the nature of mind. These teachings and practices are profoundly transformative and put you directly in touch with your true nature.

What will I learn?
The techniques taught in this program, and associated benefits, are the most profound in the Buddhist tradition.

In this program, you will:

  • Receive the first and second pointing out instructions

  • Learn how to recognise and sustain the recognition of nature of mind throughout your life

  • Learn the Ngรถndro and Nectar of the Path practices associated with these levels

Your ticket already includes access to this event. Please do not register separately for the empowerment and refuge.

Meals
Your ticket price includes a lunch and an early dinner. Meals will be basic vegetarian. You can submit essential dietary requirements at check-out. We will do our best to accommodate, but we cannot guarantee that meal modifications will be possible at this time.

Stations for Water, Tea, and Coffee will be available to attendees throughout the event.

The Stupa View Cafe
 will also be open throughout the teachings for anyone wishing to purchase separate food or drink.

There are no other cafes or stores within walking or close driving distance, so you may want to consider bringing your own snacks if needed, however there are no facilities to store or prepare food on site.

Accommodation & Travel
Accommodation is not provided within the ticketing cost, and there is no on-site accommodation available at The Stupa or at Atisha Centre, however there are many accommodation options available in nearby Bendigo and surrounds which are a 15-20 minute drive away.

If we have sufficient interest we will organise a shuttle bus to be paid on a per person basis. There is plenty of on-site parking.

Climate
It will be Winter in Victoria during this retreat and is likely to be cold. Parts of the great Stupa are still being built, and so it is likely to be quite cool inside. We are bringing in a number of heaters for inside the stupa to assist but we ask that you prepare by bringing layered and warm clothes.

Seating
Upright chairs will be provided as well as floor cushions. If you wish to bring your cushion or seat, this may be possible, however the hall will be reset each day.

Ticket Prices and Discounts

  • Standard Rate: 900.00 AUD - This covers the base cost of the program and meals.

  • Sponsor Rate: 1000.00 AUD - Covers ticket booking and processing fees as well as supports those seeking reduced rates.

  • Reduced Rate: 800.00 AUD - Available to anyone who would struggle to pay the Standard Rate, limited number available.

  • Ordained Sangha: There is no event cost, although monastics are asked to cover food, transport, and your own accommodation. Email support@tergar.org.au for registration information.

All prices are in AUD and inclusive of GST.

We strive to offer programs like this one as broadly as we can, regardless of ability to pay. We invite all who are able to please consider registering as a sponsor or adding an additional donation during registration or at the event to help share these teachings with as many people as possible.

All surplus funds are split between Tergar International, The Yongey Foundation, and Tergar Australiaโ€™s operational fund. These operational funds allow us to maintain our local events in Australia between Rinpocheโ€™s visits, and make future visits from Rinpoche available.

Cancellation

  • A full refund will be provided for event ticket cancellations made up to 7 days in advance of the programme start date.

  • If you cancel later than 7 days before the programme start date, we will deduct an administrative fee of 50.00 from your refund.
